About

The Department of Police Science & Security Studies, NFSU (I) Campus ventures to develop capabilities in response to growing security and safety issues as well as needs by exploring the academic disciplines of Homeland Security. The Department strives to make the students skilful by imparting structured and practical training in subjects of Internal Security, Risk Analysis, Intelligence, Civil and Criminal Laws, Investigation & Forensics, Psychology, Cyber Security, and more importantly, Contemporary as well as Advanced Technologies including Drone and Anti-Drone technologies to develop a holistic understanding of all the aspects of security.

Mission

  • To create young leaders capable of resolutely meeting the contemporary as well as future security challenges of the country by imparting high-quality, holistic and multi-disciplinary education. 
  • To help enhance the proficiency of security organizations, industries and academia by focussing on critical thinking, strategic studies, and advanced technologies with a forensic perspective.
  • To boost the security consciousness of the society at large by engaging in education, research and consultancy in Uganda.

Vision

To respond to the nation’s growing security and safety needs by imparting education, empowering society by providing training to meet security and safety challenges and threats, and engage in research on country’s pressing security issues to help in policy making.

The Department of Police Science and Security Studies provides robust and practical knowledge about different facets of national security. The courses and pedagogy are designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and skills to the students. The Department also provides opportunities to students to engage in research through individual as well as joint projects. In addition, it offers a special forum for constant interaction between military professionals, strategic thinkers, corporate leaders, and academicians, which encourages strategic and critical thinking amongst the students. The Department maintains a high level of ethical standards such as impartiality, accuracy, and honesty in all aspects of forensic investigations.
